Creating the Perfect Tee is a Mastering Process

When I first started in this industry I created an embellished tee. We would buy from a Pennsylvania company and garment dye them, embellish them using handmade French ribbon roses and sell to stores and craft shows.

There were elements about a tee that I noticed. The fit, the neckline, the length of the body, and the length of the sleeve. Everything was selling but my question was how can I make this better??

This led to creating my own T shirt. It was all about the fit, the fabric, the armhole, and neck line. So many elements went in to creating what I am so proud of today. Someone might not understand or pay attention but I worked with the patternmaker to evolve a body style that so works. Once we got the base we could go from there. We made more tee with different necklines. There are so many different types but they need to be just right (perfection)… The crewneck, the V neck, the scoop neck, the square neck. Oh, then the sleeve length- the cap sleeve, the short sleeve, the elbow sleeve, the 3/4 sleeve, the long sleeve. Then the body length and on and on. As I write this it is like a special recipe that just is perfect no matter when you make it.

As time evolved I got the opportunity to build relationships through this tee creation.

We were the # 1 knit top in Anthropologie, Mark Shale, Nordstrom, Marshall Fields, Harolds Department stores, Coldwater Creek Catalogue, Flax mens line, Thirty Something Fashion, and specialty stores all over the world. 

 It truly is about the fit.

I carry this same thought process of creating the tee with dresses, pants, jackets, cardigans, scarfs, and every element in the brand. Over the years the name might have changed from OYB, Feather, to Plume and Thread, but the recipe is the same. I am never done creating, I am always looking at the challenge, always wanting to explore and be open to what is next. But I always have the key ingredients to make a garment that us just so elegant and special because that is what the world deserves. 

 So when you wear that tee just know there is a lot of thought, love, and creativity behind it
